Write Mind Documentation Services provides technical writing, editing, instructional design, and online help or web site design services on a consultant, contract, or sub-contract basis. What I bring to the table:

  • Ability to focus on details while maintaining a global view of a project. Understand potential cause/effect relationships that may affect a project and ensure that potential problems are not overlooked.
  • Experience with companies such as Hughes Helicopters, Amdahl, Intel, AT&T Wireless, and a variety of others (see the Employment History link)

  • Ability to take technical information from many sources (such as design specs, functional specs, and interviews of Subject Matter Experts) and create easy to use, thorough, audience-appropriate documentation.
  • Varied skill set including needs assessment, requirements gathering, process analysis/improvement, writing, editing, interviewing, meeting facilitation, project management, Sarbanes-Oxley process compliance, web site design, and usability testing, online help content development, document control implementation and management (see the Skills link for more information)
  • Experience writing many document types including user guides (software and hardware), online help, web pages, operator’s manuals, programmer guides, administrator’s guides, installation guides, field repair manuals, technical reference manuals, release notes, R&D proposals, test and calibration procedures, UNIX user and administration guides, policies/procedures, customer service newsletters, Sarbanes-Oxley process compliance documents, work flow diagrams, best practices job aids, business processes, maintenance manuals
  • Experience with a broad range of tools such as: UNIX operating system and macros, MS Word, FrameMaker, RoboHelp, HotMetalPro, DreamWeaver & FrontPage html editors, screen capture software such as SnagIt, Visio, Documentum & Eroom (for file revision control and file sharing), NetMeeting and GoToMeeting, SharePoint, wiki
